Kindred Labs is an AI research and infrastructure company based in Lagos and Ibadan, Nigeria. We design AI-native robust systems and deploy them as products people actually use. Healthcare is where we started because the need is urgent and the infrastructure doesn't exist.
Our published research spans LLM behavioral modeling, computational intelligence, and AI systems design. We study the problems, then we ship the solutions.

A full-stack health operating system for Africa: consumer app, provider portal, and the data infrastructure connecting it all.
A pregnant woman tracking her pregnancy week by week. A young professional trying to understand lab results. A hypertensive patient managing medication alone. Today they search online, ask WhatsApp groups, or walk to a chemist and describe pain. Alma replaces all of that.
A Lagos clinic owner sees 40+ patients daily in under 5 minutes each, with zero access to patient history. Everything runs on paper that doesn't travel between facilities. The Provider Portal replaces that with connected digital infrastructure.
Nigeria has no shared health data layer. Clinics can't see what happened at the last clinic. Lab results live on paper. Insurance claims are manual. Health Rails is the missing infrastructure that makes all of it interoperable.
Technical Architecture

Streaming AI with custom system prompts encoding Nigerian medical context. Understands local drug names (Ampiclox, Flagyl, Alabukun), Nigerian foods, and code-switching between languages mid-conversation. Pre-processing safety screen runs before every response.
FHIR-compatible REST APIs that give every stakeholder in the health ecosystem a shared data language. UHID registry with QR-based portable identity that works offline.
Next.js at the edge, React Native for mobile, and a PWA under 500KB for everything else. Real-time database with row-level security, phone OTP auth, and encrypted storage.

Alma's core AI is free: health conversations, triage, lab records, and UHID. When you need a doctor, Alma connects you to a paid virtual consultation. Advanced features like daily briefings and detailed analytics are available on paid plans.
Clinics and hospitals subscribe to the Provider Portal for EHR, queue management, billing, UHID integration, and clinical decision support. Tiered by facility size and feature needs.
